Preps For New Year's Eve Bash With Sammy Hagar

Yahoo! Music, Dec 27, 2000 5:00 pm PST
(12/27/00, 5 p.m. ET) - Ted Nugent is prepping for Whiplash Bash 2000, his annual New Year's Eve show in his home town of Detroit. This year's event takes place at the suburban Palace of Auburn Hills and features not only Nugent and his current band--bassist Mario Mendoza and drummer Tommy Aldridge--but also special guest Sammy Hagar.

Nugent tells LAUNCH he considers Hagar the perfect addition to what's always a spirited bill. "I can't imagine who I'd rather have," says Nugent. "He and I have always been buddies, and we've always been, I think, mutual admiration mongers. I just think he is the quintessential rock frontman. I love the attitude, the energy, the fire, the incredible pipes, and the way he manipulates those pipes to deliver what he's done--in everything from Montrose to Sammy [by himself] to Van Halen and beyond. And I love his new record. So when I made the offer to him, it was perfect."

Hagar is on tour to promote his latest album, Ten 13. Nugent recently finished filming an installment of the cable Arts & Entertainment channel's Biography series and plans to begin working on his next solo album this spring.
