Says McVeigh Deserved To Die, But So Do Janet Reno And Others

Yahoo! Music, Jun 14, 2001 12:00 pm PDT
(6/14/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- Ted Nugent is glad Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh was executed this week, but he wants people to know that there are those who deserve the same treatment, including some in the federal government. Nugent is a strong backer of every honest law-enforcement agency in the U.S., but he believes that McVeigh did what he did based on the government's actions at places like Waco, Texas, and Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

"Timothy McVeigh is dead. He deserves to be dead. He is evil, he is a criminal, he is demonic in his mindset, obviously," Nugent told LAUNCH. "That being said, it would be irresponsible for us as a nation to not admit equally that Mister Janet Reno is evil, that the agent, and the agents, of the ATF and the FBI who slaughtered innocent women and children at Waco are equally guilty. They should be killed. They should be brought to justice."

The singer-guitarist stressed, though, that he's not issuing a blanket indictment of law enforcement, "I'm not condemning the agencies. They're brave, dedicated men and women--heroes--in the ATF, in the FBI, in the Secret Service, in the federal marshals, in the DEA, and state troopers and sheriffs and police all across the nation."

Nugent recently released a new live album, Full Bluntal Nugity, which was recorded last New Year's Eve at the Palace Of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
