The band wrote their 1986 riff-heavy tune "Modern Day Cowboy" in response to the heavy-handedness of the U.S. government during the Reagan years. Guitarist Frank Hannon told LAUNCH the song still rings true today. "Things haven't changed," he said. "It's like, everybody wants to be a cowboy. And now Bush wants to be a cowboy with China and, whatever. . . 'Modern Day Cowboy,' President Bush is the modern day cowboy today, huh? It was Reagan back when we wrote it."
Tesla plays the last date of its current tour leg Saturday (April 7) in Norfolk, Virginia. The band will go out again starting April 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina, with dates running until May 10. Every show on the previous leg of the tour was sold out.
