U2, Springsteen, Eminem, Shakira, Coldplay & Moby Up For Dutch Awards

Yahoo! Music, Jan 28, 2003 10:00 am PST
(1/28/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- U2, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Shakira, Coldplay, Moby, and Norah Jones have all received nominations at the upcoming Edison Pop Music Awards in Holland, which will take place on March 6 at Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall.

The Irish rock heroes scored the most nods, with two. The band is up for an Edison as best international group along with Coldplay and the Southern California band Venice. U2's 2002 video compilation, The Best Of 1990-2000, scored a nod for best DVD.

Springsteen is nominated for international male singer along with Robbie Williams and legendary 1960s soul man Solomon Burke. Shakira and Jones are contenders for international female singer with Britain's Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Eminem and N.E.R.D. can be found in the R&B/hip hop category; and vying for best new international artist are Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake, and the U.K. girl group Sugababes.

Among the alternative contenders are Queens Of The Stone Age and the Hives, while Moby is up in the dance division of the awards.

All nominations are based on the acts' albums. A voting academy of 500 members pick the winners in most categories; the Dutch public can vote on the awards' website for single and album of the year.

The Edisons will be broadcast in the Netherlands, live on both Radio 538 and television channel SBS 6.
