N-Sync Has Two In Top 10; Alanis Still On Top
Yahoo! Music, Nov 18, 1998 9:00 pm PSTHome For Christmas, the holiday album by teen sensations N-Sync, debuts at No. 7 this week. That's just one spot behind the group's self-titled album, which has been on the chart for 34 weeks, giving N-Sync two albums in the top 10.
This, of course, isn't an everyday occurrence. In fact, the last time we can remember one artist landing two albums in the top 10 was when Garth Brooks accomplished a similar feat in October 1992 with his chart-topping The Chase and Christmas album Beyond The Season. Other acts to score to albums in the top 10 during the SoundScan era include Guns N' Roses, whose Use Your Illusion I and II albums entered in the top two spots of the chart in October 1991, and Bruce Springsteen, whose Human Touch and Lucky Town debuted at No. 2 and No. 3 back in April 1992.
Speaking of Springsteen, the Boss's four-CD Tracks, which bows at No. 27, is just one of the multi-disc sets to bow in the top 40 this week. The others include George Michael's two-CD Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best Of George Michael, which bows at No. 24, and Rush's three-disc live collection, Different Stages, which enters at No. 35.
Also debuting high is Room 112, the latest from Bad Boy artists 112.
Other albums in the top 10 include Celine Dion's These Are Special Times (No. 3), Jay-Z's Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life (No. 4), U2's The Best Of 1980-1990 (No. 5), Shania Twain's Come On Over (No. 8), Dru Hill's Enter The Dru (No. 9), and the Backstreet Boys' self-titled debut (No. 10).
