"Die Walkuere" already has been premiered this season, and a new production of "Siegfried" will be staged April 27. They, and the two new productions planned for the next season, will then be presented in sequence as the Ring Cycle, starting May 5, 2009.
Detailing the forthcoming season on Thursday, opera officials said Charles Gounod's "Faust" will also be premiered, along with Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky's "Eugen Onegin."
The Ring Cycle will be directed by Sven-Erich Bechtolf and conducted by Franz Welser-Moest. Nicholas Joel will direct "Faust," with Betrand de Billy in the pit, while "Eugen Onegin" will be directed by Falk Richter and conducted by Seiji Ozawa.
Revivals include Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme" on Dec. 22 to mark the Italian composer's birthday.
