Frontman Gets Help From PJ Harvey, Lou Reed On Solo Album

Yahoo! Music, Sep 19, 2001 10:00 am PDT
(9/19/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Violent Femmes frontman Gordon Gano gets a hand from PJ Harvey, Lou Reed, Frank Black, Mary Lou Lord, and They Might Be Giants on Hitting The Ground, his solo debut for Instinct Records. The effort was originally slated for release this month but will now be arriving after the first of the year, likely February, according to a spokesperson for the New York independent label.

As singer-guitarist in the Violent Femmes, Gano has achieved considerable acclaim through the years. The group is perhaps best known for its 1983 self-titled debut album, featuring the angst-ridden alt-rock staples "Add It Up," "Kiss Off," and "Blister In The Sun."
