(5/1/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- G-funk originator Warren G has just signed a new exclusive recording agreement with Universal Records. The rapper is in the process of recruiting some high-powered guests for his Universal debut, and some of them include his half-brother Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Nate Dogg, Butch Cassidy, Daz, and Kurupt. G will break from his usual formula of producing his own album and share production duties with Scott Storch, Battle Cat, and Jason "Jay E" Epperson.
Warren G recently told LAUNCH that he actually enjoys producing more than rapping: "I like producing better than anything. That's my number-one thing: producing. I mean, I rap, but I'd rather produce than rap because I can experiment with so many different types of sounds and so many different types of tones and stuff, and I like that."
No release date has been set for the project. Warren G has released three albums to date, including his triple-platinum debut Regulate...G Funk Era, 1997's gold-certified Take A Look Over Your Shoulder, and 1999's gold-certified I Want It All.
