The Who's Daltrey lambasts Live Earth
Yahoo! Music, May 22, 2007 4:00 pm PDTRoger Daltrey has launched a scathing attack on this summer's Live Earth concerts.
The Who frontman has become the latest high-profile figure to question Al Gore's initiative to raise awareness about climate change.
He claims the idea is flawed because of the environmental damage that may be caused by the infrastructure of the event, which takes place on seven continents on July 7.
"The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert. I can't believe it. Let's burn even more fuel. We have problems with global warming, but the questions and the answers are so huge I don't know what a rock concert's ever going to do to help," he told a U.K. tabloid.
Daltrey has offered his own proposal to counter the issue, commenting: "My answer is to burn all the f--king oil as quick as possible and then the politicians will have to find a solution."
The Who headline England's Glastonbury Festival this summer.
